Boater Operator Safety

Training Provided via Cornerstone System or Moodle

Online Boater Operator Safety Certification Course

Boat operator training is required for all University employees who drive ANY water vessel while conducting University business. This includes any personal vessel used for state business. Initial training is required within 90 days of hire or within 90 days of being assigned a duty to operate a water vessel while conducting University business. Participants who complete the online training course are required to send verification of completion, along with the completed Water Vessel Authorization Form to the EHS Office at Parker Hall.  This course can be found in Cornerstone for full-time faculty and staff and also in Moodle for part-time employees and approved students.

Authorization to drive a water vessel is not given until training is complete, a background check is verified through the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, and the EHS Director has signed the Water Vessel Authorization Form (DA2066).

Boater Operator Safety Refresher Training

Please email safety@louisiana.edu to request this course in Moodle.

Boater operators are required to refresh their training every 3 years. Participants who complete the online training course are required to refresh that training every 3 years.  Refresher training can be found in Moodle.  Please send verification of completion (certificate from moodle), along with a completed Water Vessel Authorization Form to the EHS Office at Parker Hall.  This verification may be sent to: safety@louisiana.edu.
